Please be advised that a meeting of the School Council for Sumter Middle School will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center.




SCMS Prom is a formal event, therefore all students must wear formal attire. A person may be denied entry to the SCMS Prom if the attire is deemed not appropriate by administrators or designated school personnel.


·         Front slits should be no higher than 4 inches above the knee

·         Side cutouts are not permitted

·         No bare midriffs or sheer material without a pattern on top

·         Strapless dresses must fit securely

·         The back of dress must be mid-range above the waist

·         No excessively low cut or bare backs

·         No excessive cleavage

·         No short dress with sheer bottom

·         All sheer bottoms must start at the knee

·         Bi-level dresses must not be more than 4 Inches above the knee

·         No ballerina dresses more than 4 inches above the knee

·         A tuxedo, dress suit, or dress shirt and dress pants.

·         Shirts are to be worn and buttoned across the chest and abdomen at all


·         Dress shoes or dress boots are appropriate.

·         No Beach shoes.

·         Formal Hats and Canes are allowed.

*No outside students will be permitted to attend the SCMS prom. A list will be kept of students who bought tickets by May 8th. If a student’s name is not on the list, they will not be permitted to enter. No tickets will be sold after May 8th or at the door. No exceptions.

Fri., 4/12 - 8th Gr. ELA Parts 2 & 3
Mon., 4/15 - 8th Gr. Math
Tues., 4/16 - 8th Gr. Science
Wed., 4/17 - 8th Gr. Social Studies
Students will not be allowed to bring book bags, purses, jackets, hoodies, blankets, or electronics (cell phones and smartwatches) into the testing environment.
Please schedule doctor's appointments around the testing schedule as your child may/may not be able to make up the test he/she misses.
Study guides are posted on the school's webpage. They are located on the left side under the 'Georgia Milestones Test Preparation' section. A link to practice the test online is also located in this section.
