Sumter County Middle School TSA Students Participate in State Competition

This year's TSA State Conference began on March 1, 2021 and ended on March 31, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the State Conference was held virtually for all participants. Sumter County Middle School students began preparation for their projects back in December of 2020.

The competition consisted of many events that students could participate in. Some of the events that the students competed in were Medical Technology, Biotechnology, and Digital Photography. Some of the events were limited to one participant per chapter while other events allowed for chapters to enter up to three individuals. Each event consisted of middle school and high school winners.

The students that participated in this year’s Georgia TSA State Virtual Competition 2021 are as follows: John Barnum (Sergeant-at-Arms, 7th grader), Kaitlyn Barnum (Secretary, 8th grader), Catelyn Mathis (President, 8th grader), Eryn Black (7th grader), Nevaeh Williams (Treasurer, 8th grader), Khamari Griffin (Vice-President, 8th grader), Malashia Scott (2nd Vice-President, 7th grader), Arthur Mays (Reporter, 7th grader), Caleb Mansfield (7th grader), Darielle Bettis (8th grader), and Emma Blaisdell-Ndaayezwi (7th grader).

As a chapter, Sumter County Middle School TSA came away with three top 8 finalists in this year’s state competition. Caleb Mansfield placed 2nd in the state for Biotechnology, Darielle Bettis & Malashia Scott placed 4th in Medical Technology, and Emma Blaisdell-Ndaayezwi placed 5th in Digital Photography.

To all of the students that participated, thank you and job well done!
