Succulents are one of the most popular plants on the market now.  Known for their relatively easy care, they add to aesthetics in many homes and businesses. Sumter Middle’s Agriculture class recently transplanted almost 200 of the plants in a classroom activity. Soon, our students will make dish gardens that they can share with their families and will also market them at an attractive price for those interested. Propagation is the key to any successful nursery or landscape operation.   Nursery Landscape is one of Georgia's top ten commodities.

Mr. Brinson Brock shared transplant methodology with his students and discussed marketing strategy and presentation skills. Succulents are often used in dish gardens, floral jewelry, landscape, and terrariums.

Sumter County Middle School Agriculture classes will soon participate in wreath making workshops for the upcoming holiday season. Aspects such as balance, color, shape, viability, and occasion appropriate considerations will be incorporated in the floral design classes.
