Principal's Corner

Message from Anton Anthony, Principal

Greetings Students, Parents, and Community Members,

I am truly honored to have been selected as the new Principal here at Sumter County Middle School! First, I would like to share with you a little about myself. I was born in Augusta, Georgia and raised in Waynesboro, Georgia. After graduating from Burke County High School, I attended THE Fort Valley State University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. After graduating, I practiced real estate for several years in the metro Atlanta area. In pursuit of continuing my education, I enrolled in and graduated from the Master of Arts in Teaching Program, the Educational Specialist program in Curriculum and Instruction, and the Educational Specialist add on in Educational Leadership program at Augusta State University. Throughout my journey in education, I have served as a Teacher, Head Coach, Discipline Coordinator, Elementary School Assistant Principal, and Middle School Assistant Principal and I am excited to serve as the “lead learner” and Principal here at Sumter County Middle School.   In my spare time, nothing is more important to me than spending time with my family. I enjoy spending outside time four wheeling and riding golf carts with my three sons.

It is my life’s calling to teach and motivate our youth to prepare them to be successful in an ever changing technological society. I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students, your children. My expectations for Sumter County Middle School students are high but we will set achievable check points and exceed all student achievement expectations. It is my goal to support the mission of Sumter County Schools in seeing all students graduate.

During this 2017-2018 School year, I invite you to be a part of your child’s education. Each day, your child will need your guidance and support in being successful here at Sumter County Middle School. Any help is appreciated even if it is simply asking your child how his or her day was at school. If there is anything that we can do to better assist you here at SCMS, please do not hesitate to let us know. With your help and support, I proclaim that this will be the best year your child has had throughout his or her educational career, ever. I look forward to serving you and every single student as we have an awesome year here at Sumter County Middle where we “Expect Success, and Nothing Less”.
